Research at LHCH
We are at the forefront of clinical research. Our researchers are world leaders in their fields of expertise. We currently have in excess of 50 clinical trials currently open at the Trust under 5 themes:
- Lung Cancer
Research is an area of growing importance for LHCH. Since 2008 we have increased the number of peer reviewed, high quality research studies supported by the National Institute of Health Research by 300%. We continue to be one of the highest recruiters in Cheshire and Merseyside.
Since April 2015, more than 1,100 people have taken part in research and clinical trials at Liverpool Heart and Chest.
An excellent MSc module on cardiothoracic nursing run by Imperial College London (our academic partner through the Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science) at the Trust has been delivered to our research nurses since 2013. This is an excellent example of the quality of the education on offer.
The number of publications in scientific and medical journals authored by our researchers continues to thrive. This reflects the quality of our research and the impact it has on the delivery of patient care.
